About this Podcast
HOST: Welcome to our podcast, where we explore various professional certifications and their impact on careers. Today, I'm excited to have Dr. Jane Smith with us, who's an expert in environmental economics and the Certified Professional in Air Quality Economics course. Dr. Smith, welcome! GUEST: Thank you for having me! I'm looking forward to our discussion on air quality economics and the CPAQE course. HOST: Great! Let's start with your personal experiences. How did you become interested in environmental economics, and what inspired you to teach the CPAQE course? GUEST: I've always been passionate about the environment, and during my Ph.D., I discovered the field of environmental economics. I saw the potential for using economic tools to improve air quality and protect the environment. When I was offered the opportunity to teach the CPAQE course, I knew it was a perfect fit for my expertise and passion. HOST: Fascinating! Now, let's talk about the course itself. The CPAQE equips professionals with skills to analyze air pollution's economic impact. Can you share some current industry trends related to this field? GUEST: Absolutely! One trend is the growing emphasis on corporate social responsibility. Many companies are now recognizing the importance of reducing their environmental footprint and are seeking professionals with the skills to help them do so. Additionally, the increasing use of market-based instruments, such as cap-and-trade programs, to address air pollution is another trend driving the demand for professionals with expertise in air quality economics. HOST: That's interesting. Now, what are some challenges faced in the field or while learning/teaching this subject? GUEST: One challenge is the interdisciplinary nature of the field. Environmental economics requires a strong understanding of both economics and environmental science. This can be challenging for students who may not have a background in one or both of these areas. However, it also provides an exciting opportunity for professionals to expand their skillset and knowledge. HOST: Indeed, it does. Looking to the future, where do you see the field of air quality economics heading? What advice would you give to professionals considering the CPAQE course? GUEST: I see the field of air quality economics continuing to grow as companies and governments recognize the importance of addressing air pollution. My advice to professionals considering the CPAQE course is to embrace the interdisciplinary nature of the field and be prepared to learn and apply both economic and environmental science concepts. By doing so, they'll be well-positioned to make a real difference in the world. HOST: Thank you so much, Dr. Smith, for sharing your insights and expertise with us today! We're confident that our listeners have gained valuable information about the Certified Professional in Air Quality Economics course and its impact on the industry. GUEST: Thank you for having me!
