About this Podcast
HOST: Welcome to our podcast, today I'm thrilled to be speaking with an expert in LGBTQ+ advocacy. Can you tell us a bit about your personal experiences and insights related to this course topic? GUEST: Absolutely, I've been an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights for over a decade now. This course is close to my heart as it covers essential skills and knowledge that every advocate should have. HOST: That's fantastic. And what current industry trends do you see that are relevant to this certificate program? GUEST: There's a growing recognition of the importance of intersectionality in advocacy work. This course addresses that by helping students understand how different forms of discrimination can intersect and impact individuals within the LGBTQ+ community. HOST: That sounds like a crucial perspective. Now, every field has its challenges. What have you found to be some of the biggest challenges faced in this area or while teaching this subject? GUEST: One major challenge is the ongoing lack of legal protection and recognition for LGBTQ+ individuals in many parts of the world. It can be disheartening, but courses like this equip advocates with the tools they need to effect change. HOST: It certainly is a significant challenge. Looking towards the future, what are your thoughts on the future of LGBTQ+ advocacy? GUEST: I'm optimistic. With more young people getting involved and programs like this one providing critical education, I believe we'll continue to see progress in the fight for LGBTQ+ equality. HOST: That's a great note to end on. Thank you so much for joining us today and sharing your expertise and insights about the Certificate Programme in Advocacy for LGBTQ+ Rights. GUEST: My pleasure. Thanks for having me!
